The Canoe 2 occurs near the contact of a Lower Jurassic volcaniclastic unit of the Betty Creek Formation and calc-alkaline volcanic rocks of the Middle to Upper Jurassic Mount Dilworth Formation.
A 1 to 5 centimetre wide vein or a linear zone of strong silica alteration is observed. It was reported that it was hard to distinguish the vein from outcrop. Metallic lustre noted on freshly broken faces were thought to be galena, from 5 to 10 per cent. Strong limonite occurs on fracture surfaces. Sample B064955, from this vein/zone graded 0.17 gram per tonne gold, 97.9 grams per tonne silver, and 0.342 per cent copper (Assessment Report 37443).
In 2017, Pretium Exploration conducted grass roots prospecting, sampling and mapping on their Bowser property, mostly southwest and south of Bowser Lake. They collected 2901 rock and 429 silt samples (Assessment Reports 37435, 37443). The Canoe 2 mineral showing resulted from this work.
See Betty (104A 008) for details of a common work history of the Bowser property, specifically for information on relevant airborne geophysical surveys completed by Pretium prior to 2017.
