Capsule Geology

The Tribe showing is underlain by volcanic and sedimentary rocks tentatively correlated with the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation of the Hazelton Group. Host rocks consist of cherts, andesite agglomerates and andesite tuffs intruded by small syenite stocks.

In the east central portion of the Orion 10 claim, an area of carbonate alteration within andesitic rocks along a contact with a syenite dike was noted. The altered rocks contained discontinuous stringers and veins of massive to semi-massive galena, sphalerite with minor pyrite and abundant malachite stain. Sulphides formed 40 per cent of the rock locally. The aerial extent of the mineralization was restricted to a strike length of 50 meters and locally up to a width of 1 to 2 meters.

Grab sample ERK-95-317 assayed 20.88 grams per tonne gold, 637.38 grams per tonne silver, 66.06 per cent lead, 1.53 per cent zinc and 0.03 per cent copper; grab sample ERK-95-314 assayed 4.56 grams per tonne gold, 2423.68 grams per tonne silver, 0.65 per cent copper, 48.08 per cent lead and 12.22 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 24397). Sample ERK-95-314 plots about 50 metres to the southwest of Sample ERK-95-317.
