The Below Road area is underlain by rocks of the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation (Hazelton Group). Rocks in the area consist of volcanic breccia and andesite tuff, with interbedded siltstone, argillite and conglomerate. The area lies within the Portland Canal dike swarm, which consists generally of granodiorite/quartz diorite dikes.

The Below Road zone is a sulphide-rich zone that in this area is strongly silicified and brecciated with roughly up to 3 per cent lead-zinc (galena-sphalerite). These zones are likely associated with shear zones and faults. A 2.33-metre drill intersection from one of three holes drilled by Ascot Resources in 2008 on the Below Road showing assayed 3.37 grams per tonne gold and 23.2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 31000). No notable results were obtained from the other two holes.
