The area of the NWG 1 showing is underlain by the Late Triassic Seraphim Mountain Pluton.

In 1989, Corona Corporation prospected the NWG 1-5 claim group and collected 53 rock samples.

A shear zone cutting granodiorite was located at the edge of an icefield. A 12 centimetre wide quartz vein occurs in a 1 metre-wide shear zone. Locally the vein carries pyrite, magnetite plus/minus galena. The best assay was from selected float pieces of a 10 centimetre wide vein which gave 2.39 grams per tonne gold, 421.37 grams per tonne silver and 9.77 per cent lead (Sample 55289, Assessment Report 19968).
