Capsule Geology

Three stratigraphic assemblages have been mapped in the area: (1) Upper Palaeozoic sediments and volcanics of the Stikine Assemblage, (2) clastic sediments of the Triassic Stuhini Group and (3) Lower Jurassic sediments and volcanics of the Hazelton Group. Four plutonic suites intrude the above: (1) Late Triassic calc-alkaline intrusions coeval with Stuhini Group stratigraphy, (2) Jurassic Copper Mtn, (3) Jurassic Texas Creek and (4) Tertiary Coast Plutonic suite.

Regional maps indicate the Reg 7 Gossan showing area to be underlain by andesitic rock of the Hazelton Group.

The Reg 7 Gossan showing is described in 1992 Skyline private report by Burgoyne and reported on in Assessment Report 29673: "A large gossan exists partly on the REG 7 (owned 100 per cent by Skyline) and partly on the GOSSAN 17 claim of Cathedral Gold. Work done on the Bronson Glacial moraine in 1987 for Cominco Ltd was successful in outlining a large area of massive sulphide boulders. It was felt at the time the likely source of this massive sulphide float was gossans outcropping on west side of the Bronson Glacial valley."

No follow up was done until 2007 when Spirit Bear Minerals visited the area and personnel found massive galena-sphalerite vein mineralization with anomalous values for silver (highest values greater than 100 grams per tonne ) and gold (up to 0.36 gram per tonne) over a few hundred metres and open along both ends (Assessment Report 29673).
