The Chopin NE area is underlain by a sequence of folded and faulted upper Triassic andesitic volcanic and clastic sedimentary rock units of the Stuhini Group. The sequences of clastic layered rocks consist of volcanic wackes, andesitic flows, and argillite interbeds.
An irregular and discontinuous string of rusty pods trend north, up a cliff face in an area of intermediate volcanics. A 0.5 metre wide massive sulphide pod with 75 per cent pyrrhotite and 3 to 5 per cent chalcopyrite assayed 8.64 grams per tonne gold, 26.74 grams per tonne silver and 0.6 per cent copper (Assessment Report 21219, Sample 90T045R-096).
Exploration in 1990 and 1991 by Soloman Resources Ltd. (Soloman) entailed geological mapping and the collection of 336 soil, 2 silt, and 494 rock grab samples over the southern Ridge grid, as well as, the Handel, Chopin I and II claims (Assessment Report 21219). Prospecting and sampling yielded a number of new showings.
