The Utopia occurrence is located on Falls Creek, 2.0 kilometres west-northwest of Alice Arm.

The area is underlain by Middle to Upper Jurassic Hazelton Group sediments. The sediments dip moderately to steeply southwest and northeast as a result of being deformed into closely spaced northwest-trending folds.

The showing consists of a 2.4 metre wide aplite dike, striking 148 degrees and dipping 45 degrees southwest, that intrudes argillite. The dike contains quartz veinlets mineralized with pyrite, galena, sphalerite and tetrahedrite. A selected grab sample from an adit dump assayed 2.1 grams per tonne gold and 2074 grams per tonne silver (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1929, page 84).

In 1922-24, the Lyon group of claims was owned by N. Forbes, H. McColl, F. Martinsen and M. Drager. At an elevation of 477 metres, an opencut and slight incline was driven on the vein-dike for about 15 metres until the water became unmanageable. Below this cut at an elevation of 457 metres, a crosscut tunnel was driven 39 metres to intersect the vein-dike 27 metres in, and a drift on it for 9 metres, showing the same conditions as above. In 1929, in a tunnel 6 metres long, at about 7.6 metres higher elevation directly above the lower crosscut tunnel, 5-10 centimetres of galena, pyrite and some grey copper shows in the dike and along the footwall. Although this mineralization is not developed in the lower tunnel, the showing warrants some further exploration.

In 2007 the SNL Enterprises Ltd. exploration program on their Inlet property consisted of gathering 56 silt samples, 2 heavy mineral samples and 31 rock samples. A silt sample near the Utopia occurrence, in an area covered by a discontinuous thin veneer of till, contained 315 ppb gold. Approximately 650 m to the east at a stream junction, a sample from an area covered by a thin colluvial veneer contained 430 ppb gold and a rock sample at this location contained 236 ppb gold (Assessment Report 30177).

In 2017 an airborne magnetometer survey and geological interpretation were completed for Granby Gold Ltd. on their Tidewater property, north of Alice Arm. The Utopia area showed background magnetic responses (Assessment Report 36830).
