The larger Zymo property is underlain by clastic sediments of the Skeena (Lower Cretaceous), Bowser (Upper Jurassic) and Hazelton (Lower or Middle Jurassic) groups, which have been intruded by intrusive rocks of granite and diorite composition. A series of roughly east west trending diorite to granitic dikes have intruded a sandstone-siltstone-tuff sequence. Five phases of intrusive have been identified, four mineralized, that have variably hornfelsed the sedimentary host. The intrusives appear as a sinuous sheet-like series of east-west subvertical (steep north dipping) dikes. In the western portion of Hobbes, altered sediments and hornfels appear to form a carapace over buried intrusives.
The Hobbes Zone is a 1.5 by 1.5 kilometre area underlain by a strong magnetic high located within an embayment of the northern edge of a chargeability high. Smaller ground magnetic and resistivity highs are also present. The area contains large areas of anomalous copper, gold and molybdenum in soil and hosts the Hobbes showings near its northern edge.
Mineralization is associated with a multiphase intrusive core of east-west trending steeply north dipping diorite, granodiorite and granite dykes which have been variably potassic, intermediate argillic to phyllic altered. Dikes vary from tens of centimetres to tens of metres thick. Intrusives are hosted in fine clastic sediments and which have been subjected to strong biotite-magnetite hornfels to silica-pyrite alteration. Iron carbonate overprints the entire area.
The bulk of the mineralization occurs in the intrusive core with copper and gold values generally increasing with alteration intensity. Chalcopyrite is primarily associated with multi episodic quartz stockworks and potassic alteration. Mineralization has so far been traced for 800 metres in an east west direction and is open to the east, west and to depth. Faulting complicates the cohesive picture but appears associated with the mineralized core of the zone.
Strong biotite-magnetite hornfels alteration is common adjacent to the mineralized diorite porphyry and hosts disseminated chalcopyrite. A 1 to 5 metre zone of massive magnetite replacement with local semi-massive chalcopyrite is noted in holes ZY11-22 and ZY11-23.
Drilling in 2012 sought to define the geology at Hobbes and extend the known mineralized zone further east and west. Hole ZY12-32 collared between ZY11-22 and ZY11-23 was drilled towards the south-southwest to define the geology and mineralization at depth. The hole encountered 293.7 metre of 0.21 per cent copper with 0.16 grams per tonne gold including 173.7 metres of 0.26 per cent copper with 0.20 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 33546).
WORK HISTORY
In 2007, Eastfield Resources carried out a reconnaissance exploration program designed to understand the known areas of mineralization and geology and to assess the economic potential of the property. This program led to the discovery of the Hobbes zone.
In 2008, Canadian Gold Hunter and Eastfield Resources conducted a program of mapping, ground geophysics, prospecting, soil sampling and drilling. This program led to the discovery of the URC and RD zones. The highlight of this drill program was hole ZY08-09, which assayed at 0.72 per cent copper and 0.54 gram per tonne gold over 75 metres (Assessment Report 30583).
In 2009, Canadian Gold Hunter was renamed NGEx Resources Inc. and completed a short exploration program. This program included a five-hole drill program, with four holes in the Hobbes zone and one in the FM zone. The highlight of this drill program included 0.41 per cent copper and 0.26 gram per tonne gold over 79 metres from hole ZY09-16 (Press Release, Eastfield Resources Ltd., September 14, 2009).
In 2010, NGEx Resources Inc. terminated their option on the property, and Eastfield Resources conducted prospecting and silt sampling near the URC zone.
In 2011, Eastfield optioned the property to Bearing Resources, who then completed a program comprised of an IP and ground magnetics survey, soil and silt sampling, mapping and prospecting and an 11-hole drill program totaling 3454.5 metres. Seven holes were drilled in the Hobbes zone, with the highlight being an assay value of 0.28 gram per tonne gold and 0.34 per cent copper over an interval of 126 metres (Assessment Report 32725).
In 2012, Eastfield Resources completed a seven-hole, 2322 metre drill program. Three holes were completed in the Hobbes target. Significant results include drillhole ZY12-32, which assayed 0.2 gram per tonne gold, 0.4 gram per tonne silver and 0.26 per cent copper over 173.7 metres (Press Release, Eastfield Resources Ltd., October 22, 2012).
