The Oakwood occurrence is located on the northern bank of the Skeena River, approximately 1.6 kilometres northeast of Terrace.

Granodiorite of the Cretaceous to Tertiary Coast Plutonic Complex is cut by shear zones and a quartz albite dyke. Quartz veins up to 20 centimetres wide, associated with these features, contain bornite, chalcocite, magnetite, and local pyrite.

In 1966, Zymont Metals completed an exploration program on the area as the Cupra group. Sampling of trench A returned values of 0.67 per cent copper, 1.9 grams per tonne gold and 6.0 grams per tonne silver over 12 metres, respectively (Sharp, W.M. (1967-09-01): Report on the Cupra group).
