The area is underlain by Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group volcanics. Locally, pyrophyllite-bearing silicified breccia has been interpreted as a volcanic centre (Geology, Exploration and Mining 1974, page 217). Additional centres are found to the southeast (refer to 092L 078 - Hep; 092L 185 - Hushami; 092L 200 - Red Dog; 092L 308 - Pemberton).
The pyrophyllite is thought to be formed as a product of hydro- thermal alteration during low grade regional metamorphism (Open File 1988-19). Other volcanic centres are reported to contain zeolites.
