Capsule Geology

The Gordo 5D area is underlain by volcanic rock of the Upper Triassic Stuhini (Takla) Group.

In 1995, a grab sample (GB-2) from a 2-centimetre-wide quartz vein with chalcopyrite and malachite staining, located approximately 2.0 kilometres to the southeast on the Glen claim, yielded 0.88 gram per tonne gold and 0.511 per cent copper (Assessment Report 24284).

In 2004, Stealth Minerals took several quartz vein samples from several nearby locations, within 35 metres at the most (samples 192615 to 19261, figure 10, Assessment Report 27638). The samples contained pyrite and/or chalcopyrite and/or galena. Veins widths were not indicated and may be from different veins. One sample assayed 0.04 gram per tonne gold, 59 grams per tonne silver, 0.74 per cent copper, greater than 1 per cent lead and greater than 1 per cent zinc (sample 192615, Assessment Report 27638).

In 2005, a sample (83742) of oxidized quartz veined subcrop assayed 3.72 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 28039).

See Gordo 2A (094E 292) to the northwest for details of a common area work history. See Gordo 18 (094E 081) for some overlap work history details. See also Joanna West (094E 175) for related information from the Joanna property.
