The North Iron Zone (Mac) occurrence is located on the western flank of Mount McNamara, approximately 3 kilometres south of the Chukachida River,

The area is underlain by marine sedimentary rocks and volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. These have been intruded by the Early Jurassic Black Lake intrusive suite consisting of generally medium-grained granodiorite to quartz monzonite. Locally, heavy talus covers mineralization in mafic Stuhini Group volcanic rocks with a spatial relationship to rhyolite dikes.

In 2004, two float samples (185321 and 185322) from the area yielded 0.140 and 0.339 per cent copper (Assessment Report 27633).

In 2005, a chip sample (64620) of a siliceous volcanic hosting hematite-chalcopyrite-pyrite veining assayed 0.683 per cent copper and 0.09 gram per tonne gold over 4.2 metres (Assessment Report 28041).

In 2006, five samples from the North Iron Zone recovered values between 0.11 and 1.11 per cent copper. Two 30-centimetre chip samples (GO6213 and GO6217) and a 1-metre chip sample (GO6216) across the zone of hematite-limonite with malachite-azurite-chalcopyrite yielded 0.2, 0.11 and 1.11 per cent copper, respectively (Assessment Report 28646).

In 2018, three grab samples (4072 through 4074) from outcrops of chlorite-epidote–altered basalt hosting veinlets of specularite and malachite yielded from trace to 0.11 gram per tonne gold, 1.3 to 3.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.998 to 1.500 per cent copper (Assessment Report 38272).

Work History

In 1981 and 1982, Golden Rule Resources Ltd. completed programs of geological mapping and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area as the QBX 1-12 claims.

In 1984, Newmont Exploration of Canada Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling and ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys on the area as the Lynx 1-7 claims.

In 1986, Toodoggone Gold Inc. completed a 278 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey on the area as the Fisher 1-2 and Wolverine 1-2 claims.

From 2004 to 2006, Stealth Minerals Limited completed exploration programs of soil and rock geochemical sampling, prospecting and geological mapping as a part of its Toodoggone project. During the 2006 season, prospectors and geologists collected 72 surface rock samples as follow-up confirmation and additional chip samples on existing and newly located mineral occurrences for geochemical analysis. A soil grid testing the Silver Cirque (094E 255), located 1.1 kilometres west-southwest, totalled 139 samples.

In 2017, Sable Resources Ltd. completed a helicopter-borne geophysical survey over the Bot property which included radiometric, magnetic, and ZTEM data. In 2018, Talisker Resources Ltd. conducted prospecting of geophysical anomalies (identified in the 2017 survey) located on the northern half of the Bot property, some coincident with historically reported mineralization of which the North Iron Zone is included. A total of 148 rock, silt and talus samples were collected and submitted for assay.
