The Pass 3 showing is hosted in Upper Triassic Dewar Formation (Takla Group) shales, siltstones andesitic tuffs, sandstones and argillites. The Dewar Formation in this area is bounded to the southwest by the northwest trending Quenada thrust fault and to the northeast by the north-northwest trending Ingenika fault. A diorite stock was noted southwest of the Car showing (094D 018).

Prospecting on the Pass 3 claim block 2000 by Phelps Dodge found shale interbedded with massive pyrite layers and several chalcopyrite and malachite-stained veins within shale and cherty siltstone. Select rock samples from the chalcopyrite veins returned assay values up to 0.52 per cent copper and 13.6 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 26388, Sample 77789). In addition, soil sampling on the Pass 3 claims collected several samples that are anomalous in copper, zinc and silver.

See Car (094D 018) for related geological and work history details.
