The Barn 8 occurrence is located approximately 5 kilometres to the southwest of Dewar Peak, about 167 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.

The regional and local geology is similar to that of the Barn showing (094D 084) located 6.2 kilometres east.

The showing is hosted in Upper Triassic Savage Mountain Formation (Takla Group) volcanics. The area is predominantly underlain by augite porphyry. A northeast trending quartz feldspar porphyry dike occurs near the showing. The mineralization consists of disseminated chalcopyrite and malachite in augite porphyry.

In 1973, Dorita Silver Mines Ltd. optioned 142 claims in the Sustut Peak area on the basis of their geological environment and proximity to a recently discovered significant copper deposit (Sustut Copper, 094D 063) in that area. Reconnaissance geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical (526 samples) surveys were carried out.
