The Shot occurrence is located approximately 5.6 kilometres southwest of Aiken Lake and 101 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.
Regionally, the area is underlain by calc-alkaline and fine clastic sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Takla Group which have been intruded by ultramafic and gabbroic to dioritic rocks of the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Aiken Lake Intrusive Complex. To the southwest and south quartz monzonitic to monzogranitic intrusive rocks of the Lower Jurassic Hogem Plutonic Suite and monzodioritic to gabbroic intrusive rocks of the Mesilinka Pluton are exposed.
At the Shot showing, fine to medium-grained gabbro of the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Aiken Lake Intrusive Complex contains rusty zones mineralized with malachite and azurite, and possibly chalcopyrite. The mineralized area is small, less than one square metre. Quartz veining and silica alteration is present.
A sample taken for analysis yielded 0.57 per cent copper and 0.52 gram per tonne gold (Open File 1993-2, Map Number 24).
