A placer gold occurrence is reported near the mouth of Vega Creek, approximately 49 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.
Bedrock underlying Vega Creek includes Lower Cretaceous conglomerate and coarse clastic sedimentary rocks, Upper Paleozoic Lay Range assemblage volcaniclastic rocks, basaltic volcanic rocks and serpentinite ultramafic rocks, and basaltic volcanic rocks of an unnamed Triassic to Jurassic unit of the Takla Group.
Production from the creek is reported to be "small" (Geological Survey of Canada Memoir 274).
