The TR East (East Grid) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1600 metres on a north-trending ridge and facing slope, south of Twin Creek and approximately 9.5 kilometres northwest of the creek’s junction with Kwanika Creek. The Takla-Rainbow (MINFILE 093N 082) occurrence is located approximately 1.5 kilometres to the northwest. Regionally, the area is underlain by undivided volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Twin Creek Formation (Takla Group) that have been intruded by Lower Jurassic monzodioritic to gabbroic intrusive rocks and Lower Cretaceous granitic intrusive rocks of the Hogem Plutonic Suite. A complete summary of regional geology and structure can be found in the Takla-Rainbow (MINFILE 093N 082) occurrence. Locally, the TR East Grid zone comprises silicified and epidote-altered basaltic volcanic rocks, andesites(?) and tuffs hosting quartz±carbonate veins, up to 0.5 metres wide, with disseminated to blebby pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena, and sphalerite. One 0.40-metre-wide vein is reported to dip 85 degrees to the southwest. In 1984, a rock sample (TR16+15E-2+00S-ROCK) from the TR East Grid zone assayed 1.43 per cent zinc, 4.3 grams per tonne silver and 0.315 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 13171). In 1985, a 0.4-metre channel sample (TR-P158) of the TR East Grid zone assayed 14.60 grams per tonne gold, 32.1 grams per tonne silver and 0.369 per cent zinc, whereas a nearby grab sample (TRP-33) yielded 26.10 grams per tonne gold, 229.2 grams per tonne silver, 0.096 per cent copper and 2.64 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 14103). In 1990, eight grab samples (TR-90-39 through -41, -R2 and C1 through -C4) of fine-grained, quartz-veined and mineralized volcanics yielded values from 0.38 to 5.98 grams per tonne gold, 15.9 to 192.3 grams per tonne silver, 0.06 to 3.61 per cent lead and 0.17 to 1.95 per cent zinc, whereas sampling of trenches yielded up to 3.03 grams per tonne gold, 546.5 grams per tonne silver and 0.47 per cent zinc in trench TR-90-T6 (Assessment Report 22372). Work History The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Takla-Rainbow (MINFILE 093N 082) occurrence and a complete exploration history can be found there.
