Capsule Geology

The 18BG-26-2B occurrence is located approximately 14 kilometres south-southeast of Ferriston Peak, 3 kilometres northeast of the Omineca River, and about 75 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.

The showing is underlain by Thane Creek suite diorite in the Late Triassic to Early Jurassic Hogem batholith in Quesnel terrane. The Thane Creek suite is mostly diorite to quartz monzodiorite, with lesser hornblendite.

Mineralization is observed as disseminated chalcopyrite and pyrite in diorite, cut by a 2 metre wide quartz vein.

Later work in 2019 identified mineralization of magnetite, bornite and chalcopyrite in the chloritic matrix of a coarse feldspar porphyry granodiorite in the Duckling Creek lithology. The contact of this zone is approximately 500 metres northeast relative to the first zone of mineralization (Assessment Report 38644).

Work History

The showing was mapped by the BC Geological Survey during a regional bedrock mapping program in the Hogem batholith in 2018. A grab sample yielded assay results of 0.3580 per cent copper, 0.232 gram per tonne gold and 5.8 grams per tonne silver (Sample 18bg-26-2b, Geological Fieldwork 2018 pp. 31-53.).

In 2019, areas of anomalous copper and gold on the Hawk property were explored by owner/operator Alton Resource Corp. Seven areas were explored and a total of 54 rock, 13 silt and 41 soil samples were collected, yielding up to 0.2664 per cent copper (rock sample 328337; Assessment Report 38644).
