The RD region is located in the Stikine Terrane at the south edge of Bowser Basin, and is largely underlain by clastic sedimentary rocks of the Skeena (Early Cretaceous), Bowser (Middle Late Jurassic) and Hazelton (Early Jurassic) Groups, as well as Hazelton volcanics in the southeast part of the area. These rocks have been intruded by diorite and granite of the Nanika (Eocene) and Bulkley (Late Cretaceous) Intrusive Suites.
Locally, the property is on the contact between Lower Cretaceous Kitsuns Creek Formation metasedimentary rocks of the Skeena Group and a Cretaceous granodiorite stock. The property is underlain by Hazelton, Bowser and Skeena Group sediments which have been intruded by dioritic rocks of the Cretaceous Bulkley Suite.
Prospecting discovered the RD Zone in 2008. It is comprised of pyrite plus/minus sphalerite/galena/chalcopyrite veins up to 100 metres long yielding up to 17 gram per tonne gold and 568 grams per tonne silver in phyllic altered (as reported in Assessment Report 33546).
The RD Zone consists of auriferous base metal veins, up to one metre wide and over 100 metres in length, phyllic altered sediments and dikes, and anomalous copper, gold, zinc, lead, arsenic and antimony in rocks and soils. These features lie on the southwest edge of the chargeability high and on the northeast edge of a strong ground-airborne magnetic anomaly, possibly indicating proximity to a mineralized intrusive at depth. Drilling in 2012 targeted an IP chargeability anomaly approximately 1500 metres east-northeast of these veins. Drilling encountered phyllic altered intrusives cutting sandstones, shales and tuffs.
In 2012, Eastfield Resources completed a 7-hole, 2322 metre drill program. Two holes were completed in the RD target, with highlights including 0.99 gram per tonne gold, 72.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.91 per cent copper over 3 metres in hole ZY12-31 (Press Release, Eastfield Resources Ltd., October 22, 2012).
