Capsule Geology

Chalcopyrite occurs in breccia veins of variable width which cut volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation, Hazelton Group.

In 2009, Lions Gate Energy described the Wolverine as consisting of quartz plus/minus carbonate stockwork to breccia and shear hosted mineralization. The maximum result obtained from rock sample was of 0.64 per cent copper, 0.165 gram per tonne gold, 30.3 grams per tonne silver and 0.92 per cent zinc across 1.5 metres (Sample 13547) (Assessment Report 31515).

WORK HISTORY

In 1971, geological and soil geochemical (339 samples) surveys and 130 metres of trenching by Granby Mining Co. Ltd. on the Wolverine showing, delineating breccia veins with chalcopyrite (Geology, Exploration and Mining 1971).

In 1987, prospecting, mapping, magnetometer and VLF-electromagnetic surveys, and excavator trenching by Atna Resources Ltd. on Ant showing with discovery of a 3 by 0.6 kilometre epithermal system with values up to 4.1 grams per tonne gold across 0.6 metre on Lefty 1 (Assessment Report 21925).

In 1990, mapping and soil geochemical and induced polarization surveys by Atna Resources Ltd resulted in discovery of an 800 metres long shear zone with associated copper-silver-gold mineralization on Ant 1, which was followed by 1100 metres of diamond drilling in 7 holes. The drill program intersected a phyllic altered zone related to a major northeast trending shear zone with minor chalcopyrite, sphalerite and tetrahedrite (Assessment Report 21925).

The 2008 El Toro program of Lions Gate Energy Inc involved mapping, prospecting, 87 rock and 15 soil geochemical samples, GPS surveying of previous diamond drill hole collars, and underground and surface workings, an evaluation of the property (Assessment Report 30731), followed by a 1495 line kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic geophysical survey (Assessment Report 30982). The survey on the West block covered Princess (093L 061), War Eagle (093L 062), Evening (093L 064), Duchess (093L 066), Countess (093L 067), MSJ (093L 241), Ant 1 (093L 320).

The Wolverine showing was relocated and sampled in 2009 by Lions Gate Energy.

Refer also to King (093L 041) for general information on the El Toro property, a large property that was worked by Lions Gate Energy Inc from 2007 to present (2015) and encompassed a very large area including the Starr Creek area that contains the MSJ (093L 241), Wolverine (093L 189), Ant 1 (093L 320) and Lefty areas.
