Capsule Geology

The Dat (Denak Extension) occurrence is located approximately 4.5 kilometres south of Savory Lake and 1.2 kilometres northwest of the centre of the Denak (MINFILE 093K 008) open pit.

The area is underlain by a batholith of the Upper Jurassic Francois Lake Intrusive Suite. At least five phases based on distinct textural and compositional changes have been recognized in the composite batholith. A complete summary of regional geology can be found in the Endako (MINFILE 093K 006) occurrence.

Locally, diamond and percussion drilling has outlined a zone of flat to gently west-dipping zone of vein/veinlet and fracture-filling molybdenite mineralization in the Endako quartz monzonite. Alteration patters includes minor potassium felspar and moderate to intense argillic alteration. The mineralized zone is interpreted to be a continuation of the porphyry system hosting the Denak (MINFILE 093K 008) occurrence. The mineralized zone has been tested to depths of 90 to 120 metres and is reported to be open to the north, the west and possibly to the east.

Work History

In 1962 and 1963, Julian Mining Co. Ltd. completed a program of prospecting, geological mapping and 79.2 line-kilometres of ground magnetic surveys on the area as the Dis and Dat claims.

In 1975, Canex Placer Ltd. completed seven percussion drill holes, totalling 640.0 metres, on the NU 3, NU 5 and Dat 1 Fr. claims. One hole (R-90) was completed on the Dat 1 Fraction and yielded values of up to 0.10 per cent molybdenite over 3 metres (Assessment Report 5623).

In 1977, Canex Placer Ltd. completed 35 percussion drill holes, totalling 3067.0 metres on the Dat, NU, and Denak (MINFILE 093K 008) claims. Drilling yielded up to 0.155 per cent molybdenum over 27 metres in hole R-146 (Assessment Report 6519).

In 1979, Placer Development Ltd. completed 77 percussion drill holes, totalling 4206.0 metres, on the Dat claims. Drilling yielded intercepts including 0.19 per cent molybdenum over 27 metres in hole R-224, 0.18 per cent molybdenum over 66 metres in hole R-231, 0.21 per cent molybdenum over 24 metres in hole R-234 and 0.13 per cent molybdenum over 69 metres in hole R-260 (Assessment Report 7312).

In 1980, Placer Development Ltd. completed four diamond drill holes, totalling 627.0 metres, on the Dat claims. No significant intercepts were reported.

In 1984, Placer Development Ltd. completed a program of rock and previous diamond drill core sampling on the Dat claims. No significant intercepts were reported.

In 2008, Thomson Creek Mining Ltd. completed an initial phase of 18 drillholes located on multiple areas of the Endako property and a further 34 drillholes, primarily in the Denak Extension area. No results of this work were reported.

In 2010, Thomson Creek Mining Ltd. completed 91 diamond drill holes, totalling 13,777.5 metres, on the Endako property. This work centred on the Denak Extension, located northwest of the Denak West pit (MINFILE 093K 008), and was designed to infill and increase a previously defined probable category reserve to a proven category. Other holes were completed on the Denak East pit south wall. Drilling on the Denak Extension yielded intercepts including 0.398 per cent molybdenite over 13.2 metres in hole 10-35, 0.363 per cent molybdenite over 13.2 metres in hole 10-034, 0.363 per cent molybdenite over 13.2 metres in hole 10-064, 0.141 per cent molybdenite over 19.5 metres in hole 10-038 and 0.071 per cent molybdenite over 20.6 metres in hole 10-040 (Assessment Report 31870).

In 2011, Thomson Creek Mining Ltd., in conjunction with Georgia West Resources Inc., completed 19 diamond drill holes, totalling 3357 metres, on the Endako property. Seventeen holes were completed on the Georgia West area located to the northwest, whereas two of the diamond drill holes, totalling 501.0 metres, were completed on the Denak Extension area. Also at this time, 45 diamond drill holes, totalling 8675.0 metres, were completed on the Endako mine. Drilling on the Denak Extension area yielded up to 0.082 and 0.093 per cent molybdenite over 13.2 metres each in holes 11A-049 and 11A-052 , respectively (Assessment Report 33201). Later that year, further drilling on the Denak Extension yielded intercepts of up to 0.128 per cent molybdenite over 52.8 metres in hole 11A-010; 0.256 and 0.216 per cent molybdenum over 13.2 and 26.4 metres, respectively, in hole 11A-011 and 0.132 and 0.101 per cent molybdenite over 26.4 and 13.2 metres, respectively, in hole 11A-012 (Assessment Report 33416).

In 2013, Thompson Creek Mining Ltd. completed a program of legal surveys, a LiDAR topographic survey and orthophoto base mapping on the Endako property.
