The Sask 39 occurrence is located on a west-facing slope, approximately 7.5 kilometres north-northeast of the north end of Salmon Lake.
The area is underlain by calc-alkaline volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Witch Lake Formation (Takla Group), which have been intruded by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic dioritic rocks.
Locally, as defined by diamond drilling, a graphitic shale hosts 1 to 2 per cent disseminated pyrite.
In 1982, assays from three sections of drillcore from hole 78-1-1 yielded from 2.7 to 5.6 grams per tonne silver and 0.41 to 1.06 grams per tonne gold over unknown lengths (Assessment Report 11259).
Work History
In 1981, Selco Explorations carried out an airborne electromagnetic and magnetometer survey over the area as the Sask 39-41 claims of the BIO option. In 1982, ground geophysical (magnetic and electromagnetic) surveys and six diamond drill holes, totalling 519 metres, were completed on previously identified electromagnetic anomalies.
In 1985, Brinco Limited completed a soil geochemical survey over an area immediately north of the Salmon River trenched by Richard Haslinger. During 1986 through 1990, Placer Dome Inc. completed soil geochemical (4451 samples), rock geochemical (63 samples), ground magnetometer (120 line-kilometres), very low frequency electromagnetic (120 line-kilometres) and induced polarization (81.9 line-kilometres) surveys on the Windy 1-5 claims. This work was centred on the nearby Windy (MINFILE 093J 024) occurrence.
During 1989 through 1991, Noranda Mining and Exploration Inc. completed programs of geological mapping, geochemical (biogeochemical, rock and soil) sampling, ground magnetic and induced polarization surveys and airborne geophysical surveys on the area as the Alpha 3 claim of the Alpha-Beta property.
In 2007, Orestone Mining Corp. held the area under its Captain property. See the Windy (MINFILE 093J 024) occurrence for related exploration history after 2007.
In 2019, C.J. Greig and Associates completed a 760.0 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Milly property.
