The Central Windy (V.G.) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1040 metres on a gentle southeast-trending ridge, north of the Salmon River and approximately 7 kilometres north of the north end of Salmon Lake.
The area is underlain by calc-alkaline volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Witch Lake Formation (Takla Group), which have been intruded by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic dioritic rocks.
Locally, a sheared and chloritized diorite with quartz±carbonate veins, up to 2 metres wide, hosts disseminated pyrite. Native gold has been panned from over burden in the area.
In 1987, chip samples from trench T87-4 yielded up to 1.43 grams per tonne gold over 10 metres (Assessment Report 16597).
In 1989, drillhole 89-01, located approximately 200 metres southeast of the trench T87-4, yielded 0.21 gram per tonne gold over 10.8 metres, whereas drillhole 89-02, located approximately 300 metres southwest of the trench, yielded 0.55 gram per tonne gold over 2.4 metres and 0.42 per cent copper over 0.5 metres (Assessment Report 19853).
