The Horribilis 14 occurrence is located on the northwest slope of a small hill, west of the Crooked River and approximately 10 kilometres southeast of the north end of Weedon Lake.
Regionally, the area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Mississippian to Permian Antler Formation and Triassic to Jurassic Takla Group.
Locally, foliated and limonitic argillite and/or phyllite host minor pyrite and pyrrhotite.
In 1988, a sample (33305) of foliated argillite assayed 0.140 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 18574).
In 1989, a sample (A4191) of limonitic argillite or phyllite from the same area as the previous year’s sample assayed 0.115 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 19808).
Work History
In 1984, Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd. completed an airborne geophysical survey on the area as the WE 1 claim. The following year, a single drillhole was completed to test a previously identified airborne electromagnetic anomaly. Drilling intercepted a graphitic fault zone in sediments.
In 1988 and 1989, Placer Dome Inc. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling and a 23.1 line-kilometre ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Horribilis 1-14 claims.
In 2020 and 2021, Golden Planet Mining Corp. completed a regionally extensive program of prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical (rock, till and soil) sampling and a 4851.0-line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Rider property.
