Capsule Geology

The region in which the Salmon River showing is located is underlain dominantly by Upper Triassic Takla Group volcanic rocks of the Quesnellia Terrane. These are overlain by a veneer of Pleistocene glacial and fluvioglacial gravels. Placer gold has been recovered in small amounts in fluvial sediments of the Salmon River system.
