The AC 1 placer showing is located approximately 1 kilometre upstream from the former Alice Creek placer producer (Minfile 093G 087), approximately 6.5 kilometres northeast of the settlement of Cottonwood and 30 kilometres northeast of Quesnel.

There are several placer gold deposits along the Cottonwood River and its tributaries, such as John Boyd Creek, Norton Creek, Mary Creek and Alice Creek, which have been worked since the 1860's. The deposits are located in benches ranging in height from about a metre to several metres above the present course of the river.

The British Columbia Geological Survey (BCGS) conducted geological fieldwork in this area in 1992, covering areas with stratigraphic control and geologic evidence for buried placer channels. Two holes VL92-3 and VL92-4 were drilled in the Alice Creek area, with VL92-4 in the vicinity of the AC 1 occurrence. The 34 metre deep hole intersected the basal unit gold-bearing gravels near the interface with bedrock (Levson and Giles, 1993).

The highest grade from the RC drill program in 2015 was in DDH2015-01, sample ID 2015-01-54-54, a 0.2 metre interval with a gold grade of 19.7 grams per tonne. In 2022-23, the highest gold grade from the 4-hole RAB drill program was a 1.5 metre intersection of 40.79 grams per tonne in hole AC-22-06 (Assessment Report 41168).

In 2015, Three Red Trees Holdings Ltd. sank two reverse circulation (RC) drill holes based on two resistivity profiles. In 2020 and 2022, Three Red Trees Holdings Ltd. conducted preliminary exploration on their Alice Creek property using 2 D resistivity and passive seismic surveys in search of buried placer channels. This led to the drilling of 4 rotary air blast (RAB) holes in 2022-23 totaling 85.344 metres.
