Capsule Geology

Prospecting by W. Brent McEwen had indicated green beryl crystals in a pegmatite dike that was partially exposed along a ditch in an existing roadway. These pegmatite dikes occur in an area underlain by the Cretaceous Naver Pluton and associated satellitic bodies. Mr. McEwen further excavated the pegmatite area by backhoe creating a trench 1 by 3 by 90 metres. He followed by exposing a section of the dike by hand trenching over an area of 1 by 10 metres.

Prospecting on the Beryl claims revealed two more pegmatite dikes. Dike 3 occurs about 1 kilometre to the southwest of Dike 1 and Dike 2 is about 0.5 kilometre north-northeast of Dike 1. Mr. McEwen reported many good samples of individual beryl crystals and clusters of beryl. One of the dikes was reported to contain quality beryl, smokey quartz and garnet crystals.
