The PG3 showing area is mapped as Middle to Upper Triassic sedimentary rocks of the Takla Group. The area contains a moderate amount of outcrop, with glacial till prevalent.
Sample 32982 was taken from a shear zone, from 1 to 8 metres wide, that contains quartz, calcite and sulphides. Pyrite and chalcopyrite were observed in the wider parts of the shear.
In 2006-2007, the Prince George (PG) project of Skygold Ventures Ltd was situated approximately 30 kilometres southeast of the city of Prince George within the north eastern portion of NTS map sheet 093G and comprised a vast area made up of 116 claim blocks over an area 52,648 hectares (526.5 kilometres).
Based on the results of the initial mapping by Skygold, five areas were selected for fiuther follow-up work in 2006. This consisted of grid preparation (24 km), soil sampling, standard stream sediment sampling and the collection of large, screened stream sediment samples at pre-selected sites for heavy mineral analyses. In total, 413 soil samples, 34 heavy mineral samples and 34 standard silt samples were collected. In addition, 40 rock samples were collected.
The PG3 showing had no previous work done on it prior to its discovery by Skygold in 2007. The 2007 field program consisted of prospecting, geological mapping and rock sampling with the aim of delineating new gold anomalies and following-up the stream sediment gold anomaly identified in the 2006 field program. Mapping was mainly confined to outcrop exposed adjacent to 4x4 logging access tracks. A total of 111 rock samples were taken for geochemical analysis in 2007.
