Capsule Geology

The Fox North occurrence is located approximately 2.5 kilometres east of Uncha Lake, or 6 kilometres south of Francois Lake.

The area is underlain by the rhyolite and felsic volcanic rocks of the Nechako Plateau group, of the Eocene to Oligocene Ootsa Lake Formation. This unit is bounded to the east and west by Cretaceous sedimentary and mafic volcanic rocks assigned to the Kasalka group.

Mineralization is observed in open-space quartz crystal veinlets and brecciation cutting feldspar porphyry volcanic rocks with some iron staining with roughly a 120-degree trend. Mineralization at this zone was described as quartz eye porphyry with quartz fractures based on a description of sample MK17-04 in Assessment Report 37048.

Work History

In the mid-1980s, Riocanex completed an exploration program on the property containing the occurrence. Soil geochemical sampling was completed with anomalous results, but no bedrock outcrop was identified.

In 2014, Kootenay Silver Inc. conducted a channel, trench and soil sampling program on the property containing the occurrence. Sampling was completed on the Fox (MINFILE 093F  092) occurrence, approximately 1 kilometre to the south.

In 2017, Kootenay Silver Inc. conducted a rock and soil sampling program on the Fox property containing the occurrence. Highlighted results included sample TK17-03, which graded 1.93 grams per tonne gold and 224 grams per tonne silver, and sample TK17-04, which graded 2.16 grams per tonne gold and 282 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 37048).

In 2018, Kootenay Silver Inc. completed an airborne geophysical survey and a geochemical sampling survey over the property containing the occurrence. Multiple areas of magnetic significance were reported. Highlighted samples taken on the area immediately surrounding the Fox North occurrence included sample MK18-18, which graded 13.6 grams per tonne silver and 0.08 grams per tonne gold, and sample MK18-19, which graded 5.2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 37773).

In 2019, Kootenay Silver Inc. completed a soil geochemical survey on the property containing the occurrence. Sampling was completed on the Fox (MINFILE 093F  092) occurrence approximately 1 kilometre to the south.

To see a full work history of the Fox property refer to the Fox (MINFILE 093F  092) occurrence, located approximately 1 kilometre south of the Fox North occurrence.
