The Angel occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1100 metres on a low southwest-trending ridge near the northwest shore of an unnamed lake, approximately 6 kilometres northwest of the southwest end of Lucas Lake and 2 kilometres west of The Devils Thumb.
Regionally, the area is underlain by undivided volcanic rocks of the Lower to Middle Jurassic Hazelton Group, felsic volcanic rocks of the Eocene to Oligocene Ootsa Lake Formation (Nechako Plateau Group) and andesitic volcanic rocks of the Eocene Endako Formation (Nechako Plateau Group).
Locally, an area of silica flooding, quartz veining and strong clay alteration with up to 3 per cent disseminated pyrite has been identified.
Work History
In 1981, Geo-Ex Resources Ltd. completed a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area as the Angel 1-2 claims. Two rock samples (R647 and R648) yielded values up to 0.75 gram per tonne gold and 17.6 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 10320).
