The Java 3-4 occurrence is located along Earhorn Creek at an elevation of approximately 1200 metres and approximately 4.5 kilometres southeast of Mount Dahl.
The area is underlain by fine to coarse clastic sedimentary rocks of the Jurassic Nechako and Ashman formations, volcanic rocks of the Jurassic Naglico and Nechako formations (all Hazelton Group) and undivided volcanic rocks of the Jurassic Fawnie volcanics (Bowser Lake Group). Late Cretaceous to Miocene stocks and plugs intrude the strata.
Locally, a northeast-elongate, biotite granodiorite stock intrudes a moderate to shallow, west-dipping sequence of clastic sedimentary and volcanic rocks. The intrusive stock is interpretated to be 500 metres wide by 800 metres long and is cut by a pervasive quartz-pyrite-molybdenite±chalcopyrite stockwork with phyllic alteration. Mineralized ribbon-banded quartz veins, up to greater than 1.0 metre in width, have also been identified over a strike length of approximately 50 metres.
Work History
In 1995 and 1996, Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and a 250.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the Java 1-8 claims. Grab samples (VR-32628, -32632 and -32633) of ribbon-banded quartz-sulphide veins yielded values up to 0.235 per cent molybdenum, 0.050 per cent copper, 0.016 per cent bismuth, 38.6 grams per tonne silver and 0.740 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 24829).
In 2007, L. Stephenson completed a minor program of prospecting and rock sampling on the area as the Dahl 4 claim.
During 2010 through 2016, C.J. Greig completed programs of soil sampling on the area as the Mo Java claim.
