The Java 1 occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1320 metres on a south-southwest–trending ridge, approximately 3.5 kilometres south-southeast of Mount Dahl.
The area is underlain by fine to coarse clastic sedimentary rocks of the Jurassic Nechako and Ashman formations, volcanic rocks of the Jurassic Naglico and Nechako formations (all Hazelton Group) and undivided volcanic rocks of the Jurassic Fawnie volcanics (Bowser Lake Group). Late Cretaceous to Miocene stocks and plugs intrude the strata.
Locally, a northeast-elongate, biotite granodiorite stock intrudes a moderate to shallow, west-dipping sequence of clastic sedimentary and volcanic rocks. The intrusive stock is interpretated to be 500 metres wide by 800 metres long. White, vuggy quartz veins cut an andesite and host sulphide vugs, up to 1 centimetre in size. Sulphides comprise chalcopyrite, molybdenite, arsenopyrite and tetrahedrite.
Work History
In 1995 and 1996, Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and a 250.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the Java 1-8 claims. Select grab samples (VR-32220 through -32222) yielded values up to 0.240 gram per tonne gold and 58 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 24829).
In 2007, L. Stephenson completed a minor program of prospecting and rock sampling on the area as the Dahl 4 claim.
During 2010 through 2016, C.J. Greig completed programs of soil sampling on the area as the Mo Java claim.
