The Old Crow occurrence is located south of the Nechako Reservoir and 15.5 kilometres northeast of Mount Swannell.

Regionally, the area is underlain by undivided volcanic rocks of the Middle Jurassic Naglico Formation (Hazelton Group), coarse clastic sedimentary rocks of the Middle to Upper Jurassic Ashman Formation (Bowser Lake Group) and felsic volcanic rocks of the Eocene Ootsa Lake Formation (Nechako Plateau Group). Small bodies of Eocene gabbroic to dioritic rocks intrude the strata.

Locally, greywacke and volcaniclastic rocks are cut by two dacitic dikes, 1 to 4 metres wide, hosting 0.1- to 10 centimetre wide quartz-carbonate-ankerite veins or veinlets, with pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite. Disseminated pyrite is also reported.

Later work, in 2016, describes sandstone and siltstone hosting 0.04- to 3.5-metre-wide quartz-sulphide veins. Sulphides present included pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena.

In 2012, two grab samples (164821 and 164820) yielded 1.54 and 0.59 gram per tonne gold, 85.7 and 51.2 grams per tonne silver, 0.015 and 0.06 per cent copper with greater than 1.00 and 0.36 per cent zinc, respectively (Assessment Report 33750).

In 2016, two rock samples (E5151575 and E5151578) yielded 1.33 and 1.72 grams per tonne gold, 90.1 and 89.8 grams per tonne silver, 0.05 and 2.12 per cent lead with 20.80 and 1.71 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 36397).

In 2017, a rock sample (L016713) assayed 2.51 grams per tonne gold, 99.7 grams per tonne silver and 0.21 per cent copper (Assessment Report 36886).

Work History

In 2010, St. Elias Mines Ltd. completed a 1450.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Nechako Gold property.

In 2012, Deveron Resources Ltd. completed a program of rock, silt and soil sampling on the area as the KL 1-28 claims of the Nechako Gold property.

In 2016, Little Bear Gold Corp. completed a program of prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as part of the Big Bear property.

In 2017, New Gold Inc. completed a program of prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical (rock, soil and heavy mineral) sampling on the area as the Big Bear North area of the Nechako Gold property.
