The area of the Auro occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1220 metres on a gentle south east facing slope, approximately 8 kilometres south east of Mount Davidson.
The area is underlain by volcanic rock of the Middle Jurassic Naglico Formation, Hazelton Group. The area is also underlain by Eocene to Oligocene felsic rock of the Ootsa Lake Group and basaltic volcanic rock of the Miocene Chilcotin Group. The older stratigraphy is intruded by stocks of the Late Jurassic Laidman Batholith.
The best mineralization was found in the diamond-drill hole AU11-1 (T5A-11) between 245 and 300 metres where massive chalcopyrite, molybdenite, pyrrhotite, and pyrite were found as disseminations on fractures. Rock types in the hole include granodiorite, volcanics, hornfels, and mineralized granodiorite. Other drillholes revealed mineralization as pyrite, chalcopyrite, and molybdenite in stringers, clusters, and as disseminated grains in granodiorite and fine-grained xenoliths. Values in gold and silver were not significant in drillhole 1.
Work history
In 2010, Gold Reach Resources undertook a DIGHEM electromagnetic -resistivity - magnetic survey on its Auro property. The survey coverage consisted of approximately 1487 line-kilometres, including 45 line-kilometres of tie lines. A soil sampling program consisted of 2700 soil samples taken on the western half of the Auro property.
In 2011, Gold Reach conducted a diamond drill program on the Auro property for a total of 3009.7 metres in 13 drillholes. No significant zones of mineralization were encountered in the drill holes. Most of the drill holes encountered a large coarsely crystalline intrusive body containing localized zones of quartz-sulphide veining associated with patchy zones of potassium feldspar or sericite alteration, pyrite, and minor chalcopyrite and molybdenite.
In 2014, New Gold Inc. completed a program silt and till (indicator mineral) sampling on the area as part of the Blackwater and Capoose properties.
