The Astiotr area is underlain by the Upper Cretaceous granodiorite-quartz monzonite Troitsa stock (Bulkley Plutonic Suite). The stock intrudes volcanics of the Cretaceous Kasalka Group and the Jurassic Hazelton Group (Telkwa Formation).
The 2012 sampling program by Callinex was successful in locating a new molybdenum showing and significant gold mineralization in bedrock. A total of 106 samples were collected on and in the immediate vicinity of the Troitsa property. A narrow pegmatite dike located south of the area of drilling contained molybdenite rosettes up to 5 centimetres in size. A 1 metre chip sample across the dike (sample 103490) assayed 21.224 per cent molybdenum and greater than 0.1 per cent rhenium (Assessment Report 33984).
