The TSA showing area is underlain by a compositionally zoned stock of granodiorite to quartz monzonite of the Upper Cretaceous Bulkley Plutonic Suite which intrudes Hazelton, Skeena and Kasalka group rocks. The TSA showing area is regionally mapped as Lower Cretaceous Skeena Group sedimentary rock and is described as been hosted in sedimentary and intrusive rock.
In 1999, prospector Shawn Turford described the west side of a gossan area at his TSA showing as a highly altered rhyolite (feldspar porphyry intrusion?) with the eastern area of the gossan being a highly altered sediment. In 2000, Turford reported that gossan to have several mineralized bands of parallel trending feldspar porphyry dikes hosted in sedimentary rock which also contain zinc, copper and silver mineralization.
Visible sulphides included calcophyrite, bornite and sphalerite were noted and sampled. A sample taken in 1999 assayed 0.56 per cent copper, 8 grams per tonne silver, 0.16 gram per tonne gold (Sample 16944, PAP 1999-23).
WORK HISTORY
Two limited prospecting programs were completed by Shawn Turford under the British Columbia Prospectors Assistance Program in 1999 and 2000. Mr. Turford re-examined the Troitsa Lake showings and prospected the areas covered by the Payday Resources geochemical surveys. A new showing of rusty mineralized BFP intrusive rocks containing greater than 1 per cent copper and 1.3 grams per tonne gold was discovered.
In 2010, Shawn Turford and Ralph Keefe completed a small prospecting program during which they collected five rock samples along the coast of Troitsa Lake. The TSA showing was not relocated and was thought to have been covered by slumping of the hillside in 2000. A 2 by 2 metre outcrop of similar material was discovered approximately 250 metres south of the reported 1999 showing location. The outcrop consisted of roughly 2 per cent disseminated chalcopyrite and returned results of 0.8148 per cent copper and 0.405 gram per tonne gold from a representative grab sample (Assessment Report 32205).
