The Number 1 Sue showing is largely underlain by volcaniclastic and sedimentary rock of the Middle Jurassic Smithers Formation, Hazelton Group. Quartz dioritic stocks, dikes and plugs of the Late Cretaceous Bulkley Plutonic Suite and Eocene felsitic intrusive rocks intrude the strata.
This Number 1 Sue showing represents the original discovery showing (1982) that lead to the staking of the claims. It comprises dissemination and veinlets of fine-grained arsenopyrite in a very fine-grained cherty to chalcedonic quartz vein. It is set in a northwest trending shear zone located in an avalanche gulley covered by snow for most of the year. The vein is up to one metre width where exposed. Lower in the gulley, near the tree-line, galena was noted in kaolinitic altered volcanic sandstones. Pyrite and minor sphalerite are associated with both the galena and arsenopyrite. Grabs from the area gave gold values to 1.1 grams per tonne and silver values of up to 40 grams per tonne (Assessment Report 13043).
