The area is underlain by andesite, rhyolite and minor basalt of the Jurassic Hazelton Group. Stratabound mineralization con- sisting of disseminated chalcopyrite, pyrite, and minor bornite occurs in amygdaloidal tuffaceous andesite close to the contact with friable red basalt.
