The RED SKY occurrence is located in the Fraser Plateau, 11.3 kilometres south-southeast of Chilanko Forks on Highway 20, approximately 130 kilometres west of Williams Lake.
Lower to Middle Jurassic Hazelton Group volcanic and sedimentary rocks are intruded by Upper Jurassic tonalites of the Chilanko Igneous Complex. Four drill holes in the Area 1 (Dome Hill) chargeability anomaly in 2011 intersected mainly andesite volcanic rocks that are locally intruded by granite to gabbro composition dikes and sills.
Locally, mineralization occurs as disseminated and fracture-filling pyrite and sphalerite within intrusive dikes and sills. 2022 field work identified two types of mineralization in the area: 1) swarms of sheeted quartz veins less than 5 centimetres thick in volcanic and dioritic host rock, with variable amounts of chalcopyrite+/-pyrite+/-sphalerite+/-arsenopyrite and 2) disseminated fine-grained chalcopyrite+/-pyrite+/-sphalerite+/-arsenopyrite with variable concentrations of malachite and azurite staining within hydrothermal breccia.
Highlights of the 2011 drill program include drillhole RS1104, which assayed 1.27 per cent zinc and 4.6 grams per tonne silver over 2.2 metres, while drillhole RS1101 intersected two zones of anomalous copper, silver and zinc: 3.3 metres assaying 0.14 per cent copper, 6.7 grams per tonne silver and 0.12 per cent zinc; 3.0 metres of 0.14 per cent copper, 7.1 grams per tonne silver and 0.16 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 32640).
The property was first staked in 2009 by Brett Resources Inc., which was operating under the terms of an Exploration Agreement with Kinross Gold Corp. In 2010, Brett Resources Inc. completed a property wide till geochemistry survey. In 2011, Brett Resources Inc. was acquired by Osiko Mining Corp. Colorado Resources Ltd. made an agreement with Osiko Mining Corp. to acquire the Red Sky property and assume all obligations of the Exploration Agreement with Kinross Gold Corp.
In 2011, Colorado Resources Ltd. conducted an exploration program of 27 line-kilometres of induced polarization (IP) and magnetometer surveys, geochemical rock and till sampling, prospecting, mapping and diamond drilling. Four holes were drilled in Area 1 (Dome Hill), a zone of coincident geochemical and chargeability anomalies. A second coincident geochemical and chargeability anomaly (Sonas target) was identified approximately 7 kilometres southwest of the Dome Hill target. In 2012, Colorado conducted more mapping and rock, soil and till geochemical sampling, as well as 28 line-kilometres induced polarization (IP) and magnetometer surveys, focusing on the two target areas, Dome Hill and Sonas.
In 2022, Torr Resources Corp. conducted a program of compilation and digitization of historical works, as well as geological mapping and rock sampling over their Tarin property, which approximates the area of the Red Sky property. The Dome Hill and Sonas areas, previously identified by Colorado Resources, were the focus of this follow-up work.
