The WHITE CHANNEL SILICA occurrence is located west of China Cabin Lake and south of Horsefly Road, approximately 4 kilometres southwest of the community of Horsefly. The property extends eastward to China Cabin Lake
The area is underlain by Lower and Upper Triassic Nicola Group basalts and volcaniclastics. Younger Miocene flood basalts overlie the Jurassic volcanics. Locally, Tertiary silica conglomerate outcrops are found on ridges to the west of China Cabin Lake.
From 2007 through 2010, Gold Star Resources Corp. completed a series of exploration programs to evaluate the potential of the White Channel deposit materials for silica production. The geochemical sampling in 2009 focused on the potential for rare earth elements, such as Cerium, Hafnium, Lanthanum, Rubidium, and Strontium that all returned elevated ppm values (Assessment Report 31522). In 2011, the property tenure holder R. Riepe conducted further rock and gravel geochemical sampling.
