The Best occurrence is located on the eastern side of Lemieux Creek, approximately 1.5 kilometres south west of the southern end of Lemieux Lake.
The area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Pennsylvanian to Permian Fennel Formation and inter-layered limestone, shale and siliceous argillite of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. These are separated by the, north-south striking, Louis Creek fault zone.
Locally, oxidized pyrite-calcite-quartz– filled fractures are hosted in altered felsic dikes and brecciated limestone, argillite and greenstone near the Louis Creek fault contact.
In 1984, grab samples assayed up to 2.5 grams per tonne gold, while chip sampling yielded 0.24 gram per tonne gold over 18 metres (Assessment Report 13312).
In 1984 and 1988, Brican Resources completed programs of geological mapping and rock and soil sampling on the area as the Best 1-4 claims. During 2005 through 2013, Newmac Resources Incorporated carried out programs of soil and rock sampling, trenching and an induced polarization survey over the area as the Crazy Fox property.
