Capsule Geology

The Adam Southeast occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 740 metres on a northeast-facing slope, west of the Adam River and approximately 3.4 kilometres southwest of the west end of Keta Lake.

The area is underlain by Upper Triassic Vancouver Group rocks comprised of a thick sequence of tholeiitic basalts of the Karmutsen Formation and overlying carbonates of the Quatsino Formation. The Vancouver Group rocks are intruded by granodiorite of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.

Locally, a chloritized and felsic flooded basalt hosts sulphides (chalcopyrite?) with malachite staining.

In 2019, four samples (19051 and 19181-19183) yielded from 0.227 to 1.820 per cent copper, trace to 3.4 grams per tonne silver and 0.01 to 0.13 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 39053).

A second zone of mineralization, located approximately 250 to 350 metres to the southeast of the previous zone, comprises an epidote-altered basalt hosting narrow (1 to 2 centimetres wide) quartz veins with bornite±chalcopyrite mineralization and malachite staining.

In 2019, nine rock samples (19167, 19177-19179 and 19205-19209) yielded from 0.037 to 0.686 per cent copper, trace to 3.2 grams per tonne silver and trace to 0.29 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 39053).

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Adam West (MINFILE 092L 222) occurrence and a completed regional exploration history can be found there.
