The Scrutor 3 (Cadmium zone) occurrence is located on the west side of Helen Creek, a tributary of the Tahsish River, and approximately 5 kilometres southwest of Atluck Lake.
The area is underlain by Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group volcanic rocks. These include albitized, porphyritic, brecciated dacite interbedded with massive andesite, and trachytic, porphyritic, amygdaloidal andesite and tuff. The units have undergone some deformation and bear evidence of greenschist-amphibolite grade metamorphism.
Locally, an area of at least 25 by 25 metres contains angular boulders of intensely altered dacites hosting sphalerite and galena, with greenockite mineralization as veins or fracture fillings. The source is assumed to be local but bedrock exposure in the lower valley is reportedly rare. In 1985, three angular float samples assayed from 2.9 to 13.98 per cent zinc and up to 0.089 per cent cadmium (Assessment Report 14618). In 1989, an angular boulder assayed 72.6 grams per tonne silver, 1.829 per cent zinc and 1.763 per cent lead (Assessment Report 19820).
Work History
During 1985 through 1987, MineQuest Exploration completed programs of geological mapping and geochemical sampling on the area as the Scrutor 3 and 4 claims. In 1989, the area was prospected by Lone Trail Prospecting Limited. In 2007, Grande Portage Resources completed a prospecting program of geological mapping and rock and soil sampling. In 2008 and 2009, the area was prospected as the Helen claim. During 2010 through 2014, Goldenlode Resources completed programs of geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical sampling on the area as the Scrutor Ten and Artlish Four claims.
