The Bob 17 (Zones D) occurrence is located on top of a ridge to the east of Steele Creek, approximately 400 metres northwest of White Fang Lake.
The area is underlain by Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group) skarned limestone that occurs as thin layers or lenses within a sequence of pillow lavas, basalts, breccia and minor tuff.
The occurrences consist of pods of garnet skarn plus or minus epidote, pyroxene, actinolite, quartz, chlorite and calcite, with magnetite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, gold and silver.
At the Zone D skarn a well banded section of garnet-magnetite skarn has been mapped over a strike length of 55 metres. Banding is defined by alternating layers of dark red brown to light green and yellow euhedral crystalline to massive garnet with massive locally euhedral magnetite. The magnetite layers range in thickness from five centimetres to two metres. Chalcopyrite occurs throughout the magnetite as disseminations and up to 2 metre wide massive pods.
McDougall (1961, page 2) estimates that 12608 tonnes averaging 3.0 per cent copper and 30 per cent magnetite are present, containing "about $2.45 per tonne" in gold and silver.
In 1976, drill hole Bob 10 intersected 39.6 metres of garnet-magnetite skarn from 32.7 to 72.3 metres (Assessment Report 6267).
In 1993, a sample (GD1111201) of a massive chalcopyrite pod assayed 5.366 per cent copper and 0.428 grams per tonne gold over 2.5 metres; other grab samples yielded up to 100.4 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 23551). In 1994, diamond drilling intercepted a 1.3 metre zone averaging 1.88 per copper and 5.1 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 24601).
