The Lorena occurrence is located between the Tsulton and Kokish rivers, approximately 1.5 kilometres south-southwest of the community of Beaver Cove.
The area is underlain by rocks of the Upper Triassic Vancouver Group comprised of Quatsino limestone which overlies older Karmutsen volcanic rocks. Granodiorite of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite occur to the west and east as small stocks.
Locally, basalt hosts disseminations, fracture fillings and amygdaloidal coatings of chalcopyrite, malachite and azurite in association with pyrite, magnetite, chlorite and calcite.
In 1972, Lorena Mines completed a program of rock and soil sampling on the area as the Beaver 2 claim. In 1979 and 1980, Skidagate Exploration completed a program of geological mapping and prospecting on the area as the Nimrod 2 claim. In 1984 and 1986, Granada Exploration completed programs of soil sampling and prospecting.
