Capsule Geology

The Kevin (E-2) occurrence is located at the north side of a west flowing tributary of the Adam River, approximately 4.6 kilometres south of Keta Lake.

The area lies at the contact of Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite granodiorite and an assemblage of limy basaltic tuff and limestone of the Upper Triassic Parson Bay Formation (Vancouver Group). Contact metamorphism of sediments is evident from re-crystallization of limestone and carbonate alteration of volcanic rocks. Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group) basalts lie west of Adam River.

Locally, minor chalcopyrite occurs in quartz impregnations and veinlets.

In 2019, a rock sample (19085) with fracture stringers of massive pyrrhotite with minor chalcopyrite assayed 0.160 per cent copper (Assessment Report 39053).

Work History

In 1969, Bethlehem Copper completed a program of geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the Boyes claims. In 1971, Conoco Silver Mines completed a program of soil sampling and an induced polarization survey. The same year, Western Standard Silver Mines completed a program of geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the M 1-37 claims. In 1991, West Pride Industries completed a program of geological mapping, rock, silt and soil sampling and sampling of previous drillcores on the area as the Boyes 1-5 claims, Adam River property. During 2006 through 2013, M. Schau completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping and rocks sampling on the area as the Kringle South property. During 2018 through 2020, Altum Resource Corp. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, a 3.5 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and a 361.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetometer survey on the area as the Adam West property.
