The Sort occurrence is located north of Consort Creek, approximately 1 kilometre northwest of Stewart Lake.
The area is underlain by pillow basalts, basalt flows and/or breccias and undivided basalt and andesite flows of the Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group).
Locally, up to 50 per cent, disseminated to massive sulphides are hosted in altered volcanic rocks. Stringer zones and crudely banded sulphides up to 10 millimetres in thickness are hosted in bleached (albitized, argillized), altered (dark chlorite and epidote) volcanic flows and flow breccias. This style of mineralization is restricted to the basalt flow and breccia units.
In 1991, a sample (26310) assayed 4.53 grams per tonne gold and 23.7 grams per tonne silver, while an angular float sample (26323) assayed 545.5 grams per tonne silver and 70.2 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20917).
Work History
In 1991, Arnex Resources completed a program of geological mapping and rock and silt sampling on the area as the Sort claims. In 2008, L.C. Greig completed a program of silt and soil sampling on the area as the BBB claims, Stewart Lake property. In 2012, M. Schuss staked the area and completed a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling. In 2018, Rich River Exploration Ltd. and Fiorentina Minerals Inc. completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area as the Consortium property.
