Capsule Geology

The A1 occurrence is located on a steep ridge and gully northeast of Consort Creek, approximately 1.7 kilometres north of Stewart Lake.

The area is underlain by pillow basalts, basalt flows and/or breccias and undivided basalt and andesite flows of the Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group).

Locally, sulphide mineralization occurs in late-stage cross-cutting quartz-carbonate veins and breccias related to northeast or east trending fault zones. Precious metal and base metal fracture filling sulphides are commonly hosted in a gangue of quartz, ankerite and silicified volcanic rock. These crosscutting fracture zones show pervasive silicification flanked by propylitic alteration (epidote and chlorite). Mineralization consists of tetrahedrite?, argentite?, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena associated with pyrite and other iron sulphides. Arsenopyrite and stibnite are often present as fine- grained disseminations.

In 1991, a 1 metre channel sample (26346) assayed 11.6 grams per tonne gold, 10 grams per tonne silver, 0.86 per cent copper and 8.42 per cent zinc; other channel samples (26344) yielded up to 33 grams per tonne gold, 96 grams per tonne silver and 0.14 per cent copper over 0.3 metre (Assessment Report 20917). Also at this time, a 0.3 metre sample of angular float assayed 2.6 per cent copper, 423 grams per tonne silver and 101 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20917).

Work History

In 1991, Arnex Resources completed a program of geological mapping and rock and silt sampling on the area as the Sort claims. In 2008, L.C. Greig completed a program of silt and soil sampling on the area as the BBB claims, Stewart Lake property. In 2012, M. Schuss staked the area and completed a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling. In 2018, Rich River Exploration Ltd. and Fiorentina Minerals Inc. completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area as the Consortium property.
