Capsule Geology

The Zee occurrence is located in the south eastern head waters of Gott Creek and approximately 15 kilometres east- north east of the eastern end of Duffey Lake.

Regionally, the area is underlain by marine sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Mississippian to Jurassic Bridge River Complex and sedimentary rocks of the Jurassic to Cretaceous Cayoosh Assemblage, which have been intruded by dominantly granodioritic stocks of the Jurassic to Tertiary Coast Plutonic Complex.

Locally, quartz filled shear zones, up to 3 metres in width, are hosted in a biotite granite and/or granodiorite. Mineralization comprises primarily arsenopyrite with lesser pyrite, galena and sphalerite. Individual veins varying in width from 3 centimetres to up to 40 centimetres with anastomosing ’ribbons’ up to 15 centimetres wide. Between the ribbons the host rock is silicified, with mafic minerals of biotite either well preserved or altered to a sericite. The mineralized zone is poorly exposed but appears to be traced for 96 metres along a strike of 165 to 175 degrees with a dip of 30 degrees to the east. The veins are reported to thicken to the south before being displaced or terminated by a basaltic dike.

In 1997, rock samples are reported to have yielded from 0.029 to 1.080 grams per tonne gold, 4.3 to 300 grams per tonne silver, less than 0.01 to 1.01 per cent lead and less than 0.01 to 0.21 per cent zinc (Mitchell, M.A. (2010-03-30): Technical Report on the Enterprise Property).

In early 1998, samples were reported to have assayed up to 672.6 grams per tonne silver, 1.41 per cent lead and 0.581 per cent zinc (GCNL #39 February 25, 1998).

In 2008, rock samples yielded up to 49.60 grams per tonne silver and 0.379 per cent zinc (Mitchell, M.A. (2010-03-30): Technical Report on the Enterprise Property).

Work History

The occurrence was discovered in 1993 and a program of hand trenching and rock sampling was completed. U.S. Platinum Inc. signed an option on the Zee claims in February 1998. During 2007 through 2010, Galliard Resources Corp. examined the area as the Index and Enterprise properties.
