Capsule Geology

The King polymetallic vein showing is located on Mission Ridge at an elevation of 1750 metres, approximately 2.3 kilometres north east of Mission Pass.

The showing is within chert, argillite, siltstone and interbedded limestone of the Mississippian to Jurassic Bridge River Complex (Group), cut by granodiorite dikes of the Eocene Mission Ridge pluton.

Locally, quartz-calcite veins, up to 1.35 metres thick and continuous for up to 309 metres along a strike of 075 to 160 degrees and steep dip with a vertical range of 186 metres. The veins contain galena, sphalerite, arsenopyrite and pyrite, with values in gold and silver. Alteration minerals include anglesite, cerrusite and smithsonite. The veins parallel a fault that strikes approximately 155 degrees. The fault most likely is the Mission Ridge fault (or subsidiary structure) which juxtaposes low grade metamorphic Bridge River rocks and the Mission Ridge pluton.

In 1948, a 2.5 kilogram ore sample from the adit yielded an average lead-zinc grade of 15.0 per cent with 891.8 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 12755).

In 1984, nine mineralized samples taken from the adit and former surface pits yielded values ranging from 0.30 to 9.97 per cent lead, 0.16 to 8.08 per cent zinc, 4.1 to 218.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.52 to 1.72 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 12755).

In 1985, a channel sample from Pit 1 assayed 9.81 per cent lead, 4.43 per cent zinc, 300.1 grams per tonne silver and 0.48 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 14326).

In 1987, rock chip samples from the former workings and trenches yielded values up to 6.14 grams per tonne gold and 286.7 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 16203).

The King showings may overlap the Rhodes showing (092JNE040), although, from the short description available the latter apparently occurs further south, just east of Mission Pass.

In the 1948, a 10 metre long adit was completed on the border of the former King 1 and 2 claims; along with 4 pits further to the east. In 1966, Benn Explorations completed a soil sampling program on the area as the King 1-11 claims. In 1977, a ground electromagnetic survey was completed. In 1984 and 1985, Odessa Explorations completed programs of prospecting, geochemical sampling and a ground magnetometer survey on the area as the Matson 1-12 claims. In 1987, Kelso Resources completed a program of trenching, rock and soil sampling, geological mapping and ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys. In 1992, the area was prospected as the Black Bird 1-2 claims. During 2007 through 2011, the area was prospected by W.L. Amey as the Rusty Buck property.
